Wildaria Guide

Quests, NPCs and Trailsweeper

Quick answer

Quests arrive through conversation — talk to villagers, camps and ruins or you will feel lost. The main quest branches into different boss fights and allegiances, and townsfolk will take your coin in Trailsweeper.

Who lives here

Wildaria's world is populated rather than empty: villagers and bandits occupy camps, villages and ruins, and the developer's description of the intended loop is blunt about what you do with them — converse, quest, trade, and wager coin on Trailsweeper, the in-world board game.

The main quest runs through those people. It is framed as the struggle between civilization and nature, and the developer says the choices in it lead to different boss fights and different allegiances, with the outcome meant to eventually affect the World of Wildaria.

What NPCs actually give you

TypeWhat they offer
VillagersConversation, quests, trade. Store-page framing: "converse, quest, trade".
TownsfolkTrailsweeper — the coin-wagering board game that lives in the settlements.
Camps and ruinsAdditional populations of villagers and bandits, i.e. quest sources away from the main settlements.
The LordThe August 2026 patch added the "Slay All 3 Animal Gods" quest as something you pick up by talking to the Lord — a direct example of the quest chain running through conversation.

The developer has also said the people you meet provide upgrades, reveal lore, and gradually connect the pieces of a larger mystery, which is a useful way to read the interaction design: NPCs are not vending machines for quest markers, they are the delivery system for the game's story.

Trailsweeper, the gambling mini-game

Trailsweeper is Wildaria's in-world board game, and the store page lists wagering coin on it as one of the things you can do with townsfolk. It is not a progression system — it is flavour and a money sink/earner that exists because the world has towns in it.

What is not published: the rules, the payout odds, or whether there is a per-NPC limit. Nobody has documented it officially, so this site will not pretend to. If you play it in the launch build and want a proper page for it, tell us.

How to work the quest system

  1. Talk to everyone. Quests in Wildaria arrive through conversation; there is no bulletin board that files them for you. Players who reported feeling lost in the alpha frequently turned out to have walked past the person who had their next objective.
  2. Take quests before you explore. They give procedural wandering a destination — see world and biomes.
  3. Watch what your choices are attached to. The main quest branches into different boss fights and allegiances. That means a decision can change what you fight later, not just what dialogue you hear — relevant before you commit to a side. Bosses are covered on the Animal Gods page.
  4. Trade rather than hoard. Vendors, coin and Trailsweeper all sit inside the same economy, and the August 2026 patch added a merchant count picker for buying and selling stackable items — a quality-of-life fix aimed at people doing real trading volume.
