Multiplayer and co-op

Quick answer

No multiplayer in the launch build — Wildaria ships single-player on 8 October 2026. The developer says multiplayer is on the roadmap, delayed with the Early Access delay, with playtesting targeted for 2027. Split screen has been requested but not confirmed.

The short answer

Multiplayer is not in the launch build. Wildaria releases into Early Access on 8 October 2026 as a single-player game. The developer has confirmed multiplayer is planned and on the roadmap, but it is not something to buy the game for at launch.

What the developer has actually said

Two replies from the Steam discussion forums set the current state, and they are worth quoting because they are more specific than the roadmap line:

"It is on the roadmap in discord! It had been delayed along with the Early Access delay. It will pick up development this year and start playtesting multiplayer in 2027"

An earlier reply in the same thread, answering a request for local split screen co-op in the style of Terraria and Stardew Valley, was warmer but less committal:

"I'd love to! potentially start on multiplayer latest 2025 with an update releasing the following year"

What the game offers instead, at launch

Wildaria is designed as a single-player experience with a lot of systemic depth to cover the ground multiplayer normally would:

  • A pet stable instead of a party. Companions level up, ride, and fight with their own elemental abilities — see pet taming.
  • Shared-world progression. The main quest's choices are described as having effects on the World of Wildaria over time, which is the single-player equivalent of a persistent world.
  • Local systems that create their own stories. Trailsweeper wagering, village trading and the social framing of NPCs give you something to do in settlements besides shopping — see quests and NPCs.

If co-op is what you are waiting for

  1. Do not buy at launch for multiplayer. It is not there; the store page does not list it and the developer's own replies put it after the Early Access launch.
  2. Watch the patch notes rather than the roadmap. Multiplayer work will show up in build notes when it starts, and the updates page tracks that history in one table.
  3. Split screen and online are different projects. The community asks for the Terraria-style local option; the developer's replies mention multiplayer generally. Until a build ships, nobody — including this site — can tell you which one lands first.
